Overworked Dude bead

He has left the keyboard and joined your pocket

You already know this one. The pillow strapped permanently to his head, the blank stare, the little drool, the gauges and oxygen tanks bolted to his body sitting deep in the red. He turned up first as an Overworked Dude artisan keycap, parked on an Escape key, being more finished than you were.

This is the same dude, drilled through for a cord. The keycap waits for you at the desk. The bead goes with you: threaded on a torch, a knife, a pen, a set of keys, meeting your palm every time you reach for the thing you reach for most. He does not get a day off either. He just gets to come along.

Eight bad days, eight editions

Red Eye, Autopilot, Sick Leave, Deadline, Hazard Pay, Midnight Oil, Blue Monday and Cold Brew. Same dude, eight different ways of running out of fuel. Each one is cast in its own palette and fitted with its own set of dials, valves and warning labels, and each needle has stopped somewhere slightly different on the gauge.

Built colour by colour, then sealed

Every Overworked Dude bead is a slow piece of work. He is not painted onto a finished blank: he is built through a multi-step, colour-by-colour resin casting process, where each main colour is poured on its own pass in high-quality resin. That is what gives the depth its richness, the colours their weight, and the bead its solid feel in the hand.

Once the casting is done, the mechanical detail goes on by hand. The gauges, the valves, the strips of tape, the little red pressure buttons and the needles sitting deep in the red are painted one at a time by our artisans. None of that part is automated, which is also why no two of these beads come out identical.

Then the whole bead is sealed under a premium, ultra-durable clear coat. The detail stays sharp and the colours stay true, so the dude can take the daily abuse of an EDC rotation without chipping or fading. He is exhausted, not fragile.
