To be honest, we made this one for ourselves – and for you

It is that classic end-of-the-month moment. You look at what is left in your pocket, stretch every last note across the bills, and work out that there is absolutely nothing left over for a new toy on the desk. That is all it took.

That tired, quiet, far too relatable feeling is how the Overworked Dude came to life. He was born to sympathise with you and with us, and he is the right company for the days that have nothing left in them: a pillow strapped permanently to his head, a blank stare, and a little drool as he checks out completely. The gauges and the oxygen tanks bolted to his body are all sitting deep in the red. He is still here with us, just taking the break he has more than earned.

A tiny coworker who never asks anything of you

He is not a mascot for hustling. Park him on your Escape key, or wherever your hand lands most often, and he becomes the small permission you keep forgetting to give yourself: it is fine to be running on fumes today. You glance down in the middle of a sentence and there he is, more finished than you are, and somehow that helps.

Eight designs, eight ways to run on empty

Same dude, eight bad days. Each one is cast in its own palette and fitted with its own set of dials, valves and warning labels, and each one has run out of fuel in a slightly different way.

Blue Monday – deep blue all the way through, a white pillow strapped over his head by a yellow band, lilac hair escaping around the edges. Heavy lids, a long slow drool, and a body of pipes and dials in sherbet colours. Technically present. That is as far as it goes.

Red Eye – amber and orange, with a shock of flame hair pushed back under a blue sweatband. Wide white eyes, pupils shrunk to two red pinpricks, and a flat blue line where the mouth should be. The face of a night that never properly ended.

Sick Leave – seafoam green from crown to base, hair a bright orange protest against it, eyes gone pale and glassy, teeth held in one tight row. Small capsules sit pressed into the sides, as if someone put them there and then forgot why.

Autopilot – icy blue-grey and the quietest of the eight. One plain white eye, and one replaced by a dark gauge with a green cross on the dial. Tape across the forehead, red pressure buttons around the edges, a blank screen panel under the mouth. Nobody is driving.

Deadline – yellow bleeding up into blue, hair split between the two. One eye wide and pale, the other orange and a size too big, teeth ground flat against each other. The dial on his cheek is the only calm thing left on him.

Hazard Pay – marigold orange with neon green running down over his face, a valve wheel screwed into his crown and battery cells strapped along the base. Purple seals ring the sides, a TOXIC placard sits under his chin, and one eye has been replaced by a screw head. The compensation is on its way. Probably.

Midnight Oil – deep purple with the whole face glowing red from underneath, flame hair, orange-rimmed eyes and a mouth of candy-coloured teeth set hard. Burning at both ends, and lighting up beautifully while it happens.

Cold Brew – the darkest of the set. Caramel and rust resin that reads like coffee held up to a lamp, brass and copper debris suspended inside it, one white eye with a red pupil and one amber eye bulging out beside it. Awake, in the strictly technical sense.

Cast colour by colour, never painted over

Every Overworked Dude is a slow piece of work. He is not painted onto a finished blank: he is built through a multi-step, colour-by-colour resin casting process, where each main colour is poured on its own pass in high-quality resin. That is what gives the depth its richness, the colours their weight, and the cap its solid feel in the hand.

Once the casting is done, the mechanical detail goes on by hand. The gauges, the valves, the strips of tape, the little red pressure buttons and the needles sitting deep in the red are painted one at a time by our artisans. None of that part is automated, which is also why no two of these caps come out identical.

Then the whole cap is sealed under a premium, ultra-durable clear coat. The detail stays sharp and the colours stay true, so the dude can take the daily abuse of a keyboard you actually type on without chipping or fading. He is exhausted, not fragile.
