I grew up spending quiet afternoons in front of a small neighborhood bakery. Behind the glass case were the smells of warm butter, caramel, coffee, and ripe fruit. Back then, the pastries weren’t just something to eat, they were moments. My first bite of tiramisu, slightly bitter. A slice of warm apple pie on a rainy day. A flan that still trembled gently, fresh from the oven.
When I started working on The Patisserie Tales, I didn’t want to make keycaps that simply looked like desserts. I wanted to hold on to that feeling, warm, unhurried, and real.
Each keycap in the series tells a small story. A choux puff, lightly risen, topped with soft cream. Tiramisu built in clean, careful layers. An apple pie with a hand-woven crust, a little uneven, imperfect in a familiar way. Flan and custard finished so they catch the light the way they do behind a bakery counter in the morning.
To keep that feeling intact, everything is made by hand. From pouring the resin and mixing colors to shaping and finishing the surface. There are no pre-printed forms, no painted shells hiding a fixed shape underneath. Each piece takes shape gradually during the process, which is why no two are ever exactly the same, just like real pastries.
The hardest part was making them feel “tempting” without looking fake. I chose to keep the small irregularities: uneven caramel drips, slightly textured surfaces, cream that isn’t perfectly round. Those details are where the soul of handmade work lives. This isn’t an industrial product. Every keycap carries the mark of the hands that made it.
The Patisserie Tales is for people who appreciate slower moments, and objects that carry a story. When you place one of these keycaps on your keyboard, I hope it brings a small smile, the same kind you get when you recognize your favorite pastry in an old, familiar bakery.
