It is an actual aquarium experience
Because it’s cast as a solid piece, the transparency effect is going to look amazing on a keyboard with LEDs. But that’s not all—you’ll feel like you’re looking into a vibrant coral reef aquarium, full of life, especially under UV light.
Breaking the boundaries of meticulous craftsmanship
At Jelly Key, people often associate our work with meticulous attention to detail—that’s what defines us. Each time we create something new, especially within an established theme, we don’t just repeat ourselves; we push the boundaries further. This product is no exception.
For this particular keycap base, while we’ve already crafted some of the most satisfying designs at Jelly Key, we weren’t content to stop there. This time, we cast the resin twice. The first pour captured the fine color details. With each layer, we reduced the drying time by 3-4 hours, ensuring the colors remained in a semi-dry state. This allowed us to add another layer seamlessly, creating an effect that feels almost transparent. The way these colors shift and blend results in keycaps that aren’t just beautiful during the day—they’re a masterpiece under UV light, glowing in the dark. The second casting, done after the base had fully dried for 26 hours, added more color highlights to bring out finer details.
We took on an extreme challenge by expanding our color palette to 25-32 colors. Across 5 different keycap sizes (1u, 2u, 2.25u, 2.75u, and 6.25u), our artisans worked meticulously, blending colors to create contrast and depth. Even the tiniest details—like 1 mm fish, anemones, starfish, and coral—have been sculpted with the same precision as the larger elements, such as coral reefs, bigger fish, and octopuses. The level of detail ranges from 1.32 mm to 12.33 mm, all intricately executed.
Now, let’s talk about the octopus—the star of this creation. Every octopus has been meticulously cast with multiple layers of color, ensuring each one achieves a rich, nuanced look. We used a special layering technique to preserve the vibrancy and clarity of the colors, giving each octopus its own unique visual effect. This marks a significant leap forward in the technical innovations we’ve been striving for at Jelly Key.
With this project, we wanted to capture the sensation of gazing through diving goggles beneath the ocean. To achieve this, we enhanced the resin’s transparency, extending stirring and drying times to ensure that no bubbles would form. Combined with the expanded color range, we believe this is one of the most visually striking collections Jelly Key has ever produced.
Protecting ocean balance
In our previous coral keycap projects, we focused on capturing the stunning beauty of coral reefs. But this time, we wanted to tell a different story that highlights the crucial role certain creatures play in maintaining the delicate balance of the ocean. This balance allows marine ecosystems to thrive and flourish, creating a sustainable beauty over time. To illustrate this, we decided to add a variety of sea creatures and coral types, representing their essential role in safeguarding the ecosystem from external threats. We chose the 1u keycap size to showcase this idea, like curating a saltwater aquarium on a tiny scale.
Did you know that over half of the world’s coral reefs have already vanished, and the rest are rapidly facing extinction? According to scientists at the 2020 Ocean Science Conference, if things continue as they are, by 2050, 90% of the vibrant coral reefs we admire today will be gone. In their place, there will be nothing but pale, bleached coral and dull, gray patches of algae. It’s heartbreaking to think that while coral reefs can be destroyed in a single year, they take thousands of years to recover fully. **

X32, X77 art toy
Step into the world of creativity with the Art Toy X77 and X32 from the “Coral Oasis” series, a design that truly redefines the boundaries of art. This edition elevates the product line, drawing attention with its unique multicolored effect—utterly different from any regular-sized keycap.
The Art Toy by Jelly Key revolutionizes the keycap experience, expanding in volume by 77 (or 32) times that of a standard 1u keycap, reaching an impressive width of 74mm. Crafting these oversized masterpieces has helped us perfect our resin pouring and color control techniques, with each piece undergoing a meticulous 82-hour creation process to ensure absolute perfection.
The packaging matches the grandeur of the product itself. Each item comes housed in a massive wooden box, CNC-carved from a solid block of wood, making the unboxing experience truly exciting.
Like our 1u keycaps, the Art Toy also supports LED backlighting and, of course, UV light, too. However, it’s important to note that the keycap and Art Toy do not have built-in LEDs. Instead, you’ll need an external light source, such as the LED from key switches for the keycap or a flashlight or phone light for the Art Toy—to illuminate them. And for the X77 Art Toy, only the 1u naked size is available, with 4 design options for you to choose from.
