8-bit series – Ferocious Forest

- +

Ferocious Forest is a four-world 8-bit artisan keycap series by Jelly Key – Twilight Citadel, Jungle Vanguard, Scorched Sands, and Oceanic Outpost – each one a cross-section of a living stage, cast entirely in resin by hand. Characters small enough to fit four across a fingertip: a ninja, a fox, a dragon with folded wings. Available in eight sizes from 1u to 6.25u spacebar, in naked, Cherry, and SA profiles. Handmade artisan keycaps by Jelly Key.

The latest from Jelly Key’s 8-bit series. Ferocious Forest comes in four colorways, each one a different world, in eight sizes built to fill a board from edge to edge. Come along for the journey.

Some things are small enough that you assume there’s nothing to see. Then you look closer, and you can’t stop.

Ferocious Forest is four worlds cast in resin. Twilight Citadel runs deep into ancient stone, teal conduits tracing the walls like the nervous system of a fortress that has never gone dark. Jungle Vanguard is the temple the forest won centuries ago: roots through the archways, moss over every step, and somewhere in the high canopy, a white dragon with its wings folded, not hiding, just not explaining itself. Scorched Sands burns at every edge, lava dripping from ledges that the creatures below still use as shortcuts without visible concern. Oceanic Outpost is where every faction in this world agreed to share a port, pink walls and teal window frames and lavender arches holding up an arrangement that runs entirely on collective goodwill.

Get closer, and the story starts.

A ninja moves through the heat of Scorched Sands at the pace of someone who has decided it isn’t a problem. A fox stands guard at a moss-covered archway in Jungle Vanguard for reasons that belong to it alone. Something orange is halfway up the wrong wall in Twilight Citadel, and it looks completely confident about that decision. Each keycap is a cross-section of a stage in progress. Not a scene. Not a snapshot. A world that was already running before you arrived.

The 6.25u spacebar scrolls like a full level. The 1u holds one room, one doorway, two characters with separate agendas. Between them, eight sizes. Eight windows into the same world.

Every Millimeter, by Hand

There are things machines can’t do. Not because the technology isn’t there, but because the thing itself refuses to be made any other way.

Jelly Key made that choice deliberately. Not out of necessity, but out of conviction that handwork reaches somewhere machines never will: an aesthetic that only comes from someone slowing down, and detail that only appears when a human being is actually looking at every millimeter.

Each mold is used once. The walls are too thin, the geometry too unforgiving for anything else. A mold pours one good piece and that’s the end of its life. What comes out either survives intact or it doesn’t, and no machine stands in to absorb the consequence of that moment. That part stays human.

The characters are born individually, one at a time, small enough that four of them fit across a single fingertip. An orange dragon with wings that span less than two millimeters. A green crocodile the size of a grain of rice, scales still present on every segment. A skull smaller than a fingernail, fully painted. Each one placed with tweezers, held in position with clear resin, before the next layer comes down. One impatient pull from the mold, one second of lost focus, and an hour of work goes with it.

The workbench tells the rest of the story. Dried resin in every color pressed into every scratch and groove, an unintentional record of every pour that came before.

In an age when almost everything is moving toward needing fewer human hands, there is something genuinely strange and worth noticing about a process that gets more demanding the more beautiful it becomes. Not because there’s no other option. But because this is the only way it gets to be what it is.

SA & Cherry profiles

As with every run, sculpted caps are available in Cherry and SA profiles alongside the naked profiles. SA runs R3 across the board. The one exception: 1u keys default to SA R1. If you’d like 1u in R3, leave a note with your order.

All sculpted caps ship with a flat top surface rather than the standard spherical dish. Flat surfaces read cleaner under the resin and scatter light less, which matters when the legend or artwork sits beneath.

Aegis Tower – Display stand

Aegis Tower is a keycap display stand shaped as a sorcerer’s tower – a spiraling water vortex rising from the base, a cascade falling from the peak. It lights from within. Power runs through USB-C, so it draws from whatever machine you’re already running and sits quietly on the desk between sessions.
See how the internal light moves through the resin in the photos.

Special Gift – Monochrome set

Order any five keycaps from this series and one Monochrome cap ships with it, chosen at random. The Monochrome set runs the same eight sizes as the rest of the lineup. If your order qualifies for two, they won’t repeat. Naked profile only, no Cherry, no SA. They look exactly right on a board.

Group-buy information

In this collection, Jelly Key is glad to bring all the SA, Cherry and naked keycap profiles. This is among our goals to offer our customers a better experience when using artisan keycaps and help them enjoy their interior design in the best way.

All the top surfaces are flattened like the Cherry 1u keycap, which brings an exciting and comfortable feeling when typing. This absolutely flat surface also creates a perfect look for the keycaps when you put them on the mechanical keyboard or simply hold them in your hands. You can easily spot and admire all the inner details like never before!
