Update 2
I’m currently finalizing the other sizes for this collection. Recently, I haven’t had many opportunities to organize a group buy with a full range of key sizes. This time, I’ve carefully calculated the keycap height to work well with profiles like both Cherry and SA without needing to split into multiple, complicated profiles. Once everything is complete, I’ll be sure to take photos to share with you all.
I’m still in the process of casting the characters and effects—the keycaps you’ve seen so far are just the base. They don’t yet feature any effects or the dimensional details and characters, but they already look amazing, don’t they? Even for just the base, I’ve cast five different color layers, and each layer takes a significant amount of time, requiring a 16-hour interval between casts.
I hope this design will be ready in time for the Group Buy to launch at the beginning of December.
Update 1
Now is the perfect time to bring out my long-awaited 8-bit design concept. The centerpiece of this series features mosaic-style windows, ultra-thin lines as fine as 0.3mm, and tall, layered steps that add depth to the composition.
This time, I decided to take a different approach: the 8-bit series won’t have a transparent outer layer. Instead, the scenery itself will act as the walls for the keycaps and the content inside. This means that when you press the keycaps, your fingers won’t actually touch the scenery, characters, or effects inside. Oh, and by the way, these images are the base of the keycaps—they are fully cast, with no painting involved. That means each one is a solid block of color. Pretty amazing, right?
I’m currently refining the designs for the characters and effects. I’ll share updates with you soon, so make sure to keep an eye on my progress! The 8-bit series is always the one I’m most excited about.
