You should all know kaleidoscope – an optical instrument that reflects various symmetrical patterns when you look into it. The general difference depends on the size lens, angle of inclination, materials of reflecting surfaces, inner liquid colors, and shapes. Either way, the key is to have a wide variety of designs in a repeated cycle to entertain human’s visual perception. We don’t know about you, but to us, this is a very contradictory object: it shows phenomenally divergent patterns at first glance with all those charismatic colors but in fact, it only has one shape, the rest is made possible because of light polarization and the beauty of symmetry.

If searched on Google, the term gives out more than 2.8 billion results in roughly 0.6 seconds, even higher than “chicken” – another fundamental part of our lives. You might not notice, but symmetry exists in almost every aspect of human’s life. The faces you see, the roads you pass, the doors you go through, literally anything you touch on a daily basis. In a more brain-teaser scope, symmetry makes a name for itself in mathematics, science, nature, and arts. Take a look at Vinci’s works and you’ll see what we mean. Interestingly enough, it also takes part in social interactions, where people observe this balanced nature and exhibit through many psychological judgments in social contexts.
