Low Tide – what the water leaves behind

A tidepool holds whatever the ocean decides to leave. Shells, fish, things that don’t belong in the same place but end up there anyway. This set works the same way: nine keycaps across two design languages that share a shoreline and nothing else.

The shell-form caps are sculpted from real shell references – a scallop’s radial ribs, a nautilus’s tight spiral, the round dome of a clam. Each is cast in iridescent resin that shifts between colors depending on the light angle. Sunkissed Scallop runs warm gold and peach at a distance, breaking into rose and teal under direct light. Prismatic Nebula holds purple, green, and copper simultaneously. Opaline Tear shifts from teal at the base to pink and amber at the crown. Amber Nautilus follows the spiral geometry of its namesake, warming from orange at the outer edge into gold at the center.

The fish caps keep the standard Cherry profile keycap form – the familiar sloped top, the same footprint as every other key on the board – and use every surface of it as canvas. Each face carries the skin pattern of a specific species, cast in layered resin color. Mandarinfish: orange body with teal and electric blue lines. Banggai Cardinal: brown base, white dot matrix, black panel markings. Blueface Angelfish: yellow body, dense blue wave lines edge to edge. Discus: warm beige, black spots, pink lateral panels. Each has a glass eye set into the front face – small, round, flush in the resin – which is what makes the keycap read as a creature rather than a painted block.

The two groups share nothing visually. On the same board, the set looks like something washed up rather than something designed. Which is closer to what a tidepool actually is.
