Before getting to the main story, we have a few things to share first.
First of all, we would like to introduce the keycaps with a 1.25u size (ctrl/win/alt) in this collection! We’ve received many requests from those who bought the Retro TV series – Life on planets to produce keycaps of this size.
With this brand new Retro TV series, we still keep the old colours to remind our beloved keycap collectors of the previous 1u version. Regarding the design, we also don’t change the screens to retain their originality. However, other details are significantly improved with galactic colour schemes and sparkling patterns.
Coming in a bigger size, this TV model is designed with the entire screen enlarged technology by 15% and an incredibly authentic sound system. Watch any movies and your favourite channels with this innovative TV version produced by Jelly Key.
That’s not all; we’re also delighted to bring you a world-renowned technology in screen making in the disco theme. In the previous series, you can see that we used some pastel and vibrant colours to make the TVs. We want to take your visual experience to a new level for this lively and hypnotic collection inspired by disco. It will be filled with even more buzzing vibes and non-stop movement. There are 5 colour options in this Disco hustle series, with a shimmering tone that looks as if they carry the whole constellation in each design. Be prepared to dance your heart out!

Disco at a glance
Disco rose to fame in the early 70s and was one of the hottest crazes in the music industry. As popular as it was, disco combined music subgenres of many cultures, including Italian Americans, Hispanic and Latino Americans, and African Americans. In Philadelphia and New York City, underground clubs could be considered their sacred birthplace.
Although it had a short life span, disco had made a tremendous and lasting impact on other music genres, including incredibly contemporary electronic dance. It featured soaring vocals and rhythmic beats from syncopated basslines, horns, synthesisers, electric piano, and electric rhythm guitars. But it’s not just about music.
Dance to the music!
With such catchy beats, disco had also made its way to creating a dance style. First and foremost, you have to dance to a disco song. More typically happens on a club’s dance floor with flashing lights and pounding speakers and a disco ball hanging from the ceiling.
Disco dancing is moving your body to the music. However, you must wear disco-inspired clothing on the dance floor. This type of music has four-on-the-floor beats, and you have to step in time to this beat. Several standard moves include side-stepping, twisting hands, raising hands overhead, foot stamps, shoulder rocks, etc.

Giant art toy
We’re also glad to include an art toy edition of this Retro TV series – Disco hustle artisan keycaps collection. A majority of our beloved customers have specifically requested this product of Jelly Key, so we decided to bring it back for this collection.
Our art toys will have the same colours and designs as their corresponding keycaps. They have the same look but in greater size than the keycap version. That’s the look; the feel is even better. It will fit more into your hand. This impressive art toy with the Disco hustle theme can lift your mood instantly and bring you hours of fun.
Furthermore, we have been receiving many questions about attaching our art toys to the big switch. We would like to confirm that their stem can fit the big switch, so feel free to secure them at your convenience. You can check our customer feedback on our previous collections at My Jelly!
We still use a whole wood block for the packaging, but it must be bigger. It is challenging to choose wood for our round box because of the block’s surface and thickness. Consequently, there are strict requirements to reach a consistency between the lid and body of the box.
Full casting a TV with a disco theme is as extraordinary as it gets. Let’s explore with us!
Exterior starts first
For every keycap at Jelly Key to have a solid base. So firstly, we cast the base in layers of colours, each of which needs approximately 8-10 hours to dry. Other essential components of a TV, such as a circuit board, screen tube, speaker, etc., are also cast in separate moulds to ensure consistent quality. Once each piece becomes completely dry, we’ll move on to the next step.
After the tiny parts are secured to the base, we start moulding the first outer case. It takes roughly 16-24 hours for them to dry completely. The cases then go through surface treatment while our artisans begin colouring the outside pieces.
We still keep the same ten colour and screen designs as the previous series for 1.25u size in this collection. Besides, six new colours are also available.
Interior comes next
To elevate its galactic theme, we have applied a lot of sophisticated techniques to each and every little detail in this Retro TV series – Disco hustle. These twinkling patterns can be found in the buttons, speakers, and especially the screen. You will be able to hold a whole universe in your hand with the magical and glowing effect coming from this cosmical screen.
More interestingly, there will be a new screen design in the Retro TV series – Disco hustle artisan keycaps to spice things up. Regarding the 1u size, only new colours are also available to give you more choices. The giant art toy will include all the options of the two sizes mentioned above.
As you may know, we produce our keycaps by casting entirely, so we use an exclusive type of resin for these 6 new colours. This is to create the tiniest yet most twinkling details, which is very difficult when using the regular material. The unique resin we use this time is mixed with emulsion powder and golden & silver leaves to highlight a unique effect on the TV’s top lamb tube.
Additionally, a special colour version is created with a unique method that takes more time for the colour layers to dry. The patterns follow concentric circles and are stacked on top of each other. Each carries a particular colour identity and is also made from resin entirely. Therefore, it takes nearly 4 hours for each circle layer to dry so that we can proceed with the next one. We named this design “Iconic Gogglebox.”
We’re almost done!
Casting the overall crystal case is the final step, taking up to 24 hours for the resin to fully dry. Then they will go through our strict quality control process to make sure we keep only the qualified keycaps to send to you.
